Grow the Fro

Grow the Fro

Official Shona inspired this post… Y’all should check out her page . She’s a badass photographer and fashion blogger I envy and look up to. After reading her recent post, click here to read, I was inspired to share my natural hair journey. Pardon the pictures, they were not meant for blogging purpose but then on second thought…

Last week, I had an extremely busy week and my head kept aching and itching non stop (blame the harsh weather). I had to take off my weave and embrace my natural hair. After loosing and washing, I was just amazed at how full and thick it has become. I’ve been wearing protective styles for too long, I forgot the length of my hair.

I wanted to see what it’s length look like and decided to add a bit of heat (I’ve stopped using heat on my hair for about 6-7 months now) since I read it’s not good for natural hair and it causes shedding and thinning.
And here’s the result…

The comments I received that day was wow!!! My boss was like ‘But Debs, your hair wasn’t this long last I saw it’ and I was all smiles. They dinur understand the magic. Most people where touching it to be sure it wasn’t a wig.

Just 13 months…I kept stealing glances at my hair all day in whichever mirror I stumble on. And my snapchat peeps got tired of me that day…Please allow me. Y’all won’t understand except you are a naturalista or a natural hair lover…

Although still could not fathom what my fuss was all about? but I’m pretty sure she loved it. (Ibukun is my new found trouble??)

Truth be told, being natural is one of the best decision I have made in my life. I’ve come to love and appreciate my kinks and curls. And never ever am I going back to using chemical on my hair.

Just check out the edges!!! Growing and well-laid…

I am still thinking of a name to call my hair though, it need a name plssssssss…

What do you guys think? Am I just over hyping my hair? Are you also a lover of natural hair? And do you love my hair?

Nope! I don’t keep my natural hair. It hurts and I will just have to cut it at the end of the day. I’ve had my hair cut many times. You look good though. Good job!
