You Can Do It Too

You Can Do It Too

Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life–think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.” –Swami Vivekananda

Often times, we look down on ourselves and feel others are much better and way ahead of us

We see ourselves as been beneath others and that we can not amount to anything better.

Stop it girl!

That’s way out of line!

“To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.” –Anonymous

Something happened to me sometimes last year. I attended a wedding and was one of the bridesmaid. That period, I was just getting into the YouTube make up learning and I have at least a complete learner set but doesn’t know how to use all well. There were these group of girls, I think they are sisters and they look like make up pro (at least, my thought then). I believe anyone that can perfectly draw, line and blend a brow is a good make artist.

The ‘they can do it better than you’ in me immediately surfaced and told me to wait for one of them to draw my brows for me too. While other girls were rushing to get dressed and meet up with the bride, I was busy waiting for the said lady. My girlfriend that accompanied me to the party kept saying, “Why don’t you try doing yourself first?”

For where, that little voice keep saying, “Don’t even bother disturbing yourself, you no fit!”

At last, she had my time and helped. After switching my neck front, back and center- I came out looking like a scarecrow. I looked at myself and was like even my amateur brows look better. I was so angry at all the wasted time and effort, I had to clean it up quickly amidst my friend’s “I told you so” look.

When I finished, everybody present in the room was like, “How come you choose to let someone else do it for you? Yours is way better.” And I felt so angry at myself for not even trying at first.

The only reason we feel others are better than us is because we fail to try. We fail to unleash the Trial Ability in us while we wallow in self pity. This is a terrible choice. Whenever you feel like doing anything and you see others doing it much better, push yourself. You may fail the first time, that doesn’t mean you won’t get it right. Keep trying and trying and trying and one day, you’d get it right!
