A luxury home is something you allow your personal space be depending on the kind of person you are. You are either a prim and proper kind of home owner or someone who care less how their space looks. Personally, I have always dream of a luxury home I can call mine. There was even a time I wanted to go into interior decoration because of how well I love to decorate my personal space. Eventually, I gave up on the dream and became a Youtube and Pinterest certified Interior Decorator. That’s how you know I am so big on this saving money lifestyle.
When I finally got my own space, I started working round and round to ensure it is the luxury home I want. While I haven’t completely achieved this, I am proud of what I have created given my small apartment.
Let’s take a dive into the guides to creating a luxury home in a small apartment:
1: Less is More and Maximize Storage
One thing I particularly don’t like in my space is having my stuffs all over the place. It totally irks me when you visit me and you can see all the things I own at first glance. Or if I have too many items all over the place and when you pick something, it’s hard to remember where you picked it from. This is a total no especially if you have a small apartment like mine. So what I did to fix this was to first de-clutter and get rid of items that were not needed. Then I got minimalist storage furniture to keep all my items organized in one place.
I contacted my local furniture maker to construct this for me and all items that would readily be seen all over was neatly kept in there. Items like this include beauty products, accessories and the likes.
2: Decorate with Plants and Candles
There’s something about a room that smells heavenly and brings warmth when you enter. It doesn’t have to be lot of plant, diffuser and scented candle. Like I said earlier, less is more. I got plants from a store within Abuja, and also diffuser and scented candles from Celebration store too.
This added a lovely scent and beauty to my little space thereby making it more homely. You can also include mementos and pictures to add more colors to it.
3: Throw Around Some Pillows
I have always loved a minimalist luxury home and this was what I had in mind when I started redecorating my space. However, at some point, I was aching to add some colors here and there. This was one of the ideas that gave birth to Debs Clothier and I was so excited to create and throw some colorful African prints bedding to my home.
4: Work Around a Color Theme
One great thing that can make your home look luxurious is your choice of color. Three best colors I always advise are white, brown and gray. I ensured all my furniture and wall color is white, my bedding and rug are red while my window blind is brown. If there were too much colors, achieving a cohesive luxury home in such a small apartment would have been chaos.
5: Decorate With Books and Art Works
While I have started adding some books to my shelf which are some decorating tips and also storage ideas, I will need to get some art works later on. These makes the walls feels more personal and live-in especially when you use personal arts.
When I eventually get some art works, I will update this post with some pictures.
