Happy new year guys. Who missed me? I totally miss everyone of my readers here but the tech life got into my love for writing and made me almost abandon this baby that turned 4years on the 20th of January.
In November, I tried logging into my blog and realized my hosting expired. Then I started working on fixing it and was being charged ridiculously, I almost said, ‘You know what? I’m done with blogging’. But can I? Aside been a hobby I enjoy doing, blogging pays the bill, so why dump it when it can be fixed?
After coming back online, a lot of things happened that got me carried away. You totally should be following me on Instagram to find out what I have been up to lately.
And one of it was going in for a facials. If you’ve been following my acne story here, you’d realized I have shared quite a number of time acne has dealt with me. I didn’t want a scary faced December, so I told myself it’s about time to get a facials done.
What did I do?
I chatted with an online rep via Body Organics Instagram, sharing a picture of my current face with them as at then. I was asked to share my mobile number and a kind lady contacted me. She was quite pleasant on the phone and we both agreed on a date and time I could come in for consultation.
Consultation at Body Organics
First off, my skin type was tested and it was revealed to be Melanin Skin type 5, medium brown. Also my acne was checked and it was advised I do an extraction, deep pore detox and a detox chemical peel will be applied on my face to be washed later on.
Immediately, I googled Chemical Peel and find out it is a procedure whereby a chemical solution is applied to the skin, which makes it blister and eventually peel off. The new skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.
The Chemical Peel Procedure
Once we agreed on the pricing and if I was okay with the timing, we started the procedure. I laid on a bed and my hair was covered, and I had to remove all jewelries around my face.
My face was thoroughly cleansed, after which it was steamed for a while so it’s soft enough to do the extraction. This particular stage was quite painful as comes with a deep pore extraction.
After this, a solution was applied on my face, and it was left on under UV light. This stayed on for a while as it was timed for about 10-15 minutes and afterwards a few other things were done which I cannot accurately remeber now and the procedure was over.
Post Procedure Routine
I was cautioned to avoid the sun as much as I could after the procedure and ensure to stick to a routine I was given.
This include; deep cleansing, moisturize and consistent use of sunscreen.
Post Procedure of a Chemical Peel in Pictures
After about 3 days of getting the chemical peel, my face started to peel. Sadly, it was a busy period at work and I had to go out more during the afternoons. I do not want to believe this was why my face got scared but that happened.
My face got scared and I was extra worried and livid. Immediately, I called the lady that attended to me and she was quite reassuring on the phone and told me it will fade off. She advised I started using the Rosewater Soap which I used throughout the holidays. The scar cleared off a bit and when I returned back to Abuja, I went back to using the bar soap.
What I Did Next After the Chemical Peel
About 4weeks later, after my chemical peel, I sent a picture of my current face to them and the rep at Body Organics advised I come back for a brightening facials which I went for.
The Procedure of a Brightening Facials
First, I was prep up for the facials and then laid on the bed. My face was cleansed with a cleanser and then a toner was applied to remove all dirt. Afterwards a masque was applied while my eyes was covered and then steamed for 15 minutes. I was told my eyes was covered to brighten any dark circles around the eyes.
This was followed by a light extraction around my nose region to remove whiteheads and a scrub, after which it was cleansed. Subsequently, another mask was applied for 20 minutes while I was under the UV light. Then it was cleansed off and a brightening moisturizer was applied on my face.
Currently, my face feels so fresh like a baby’s bum and I feel even more confident about my face.
Once I am able to get a good lightening of my post-brightening facials picture, I will update here. Ever heard of a Chemical Peel? After reading my experience, is it something you’d do? Do share your thoughts in the comment section, I’d love to read and learn.
