ROYAL ANNIVERSARY
20th November 1947, there was a royal wedding in England. The first child, Princess Elizabeth of the King of England, King George VI got married to Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark. Seventy years later, precisely on the 20th of November 2017, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Princess Elizabeth had become Queen of England in 1953 after her father passed away a year earlier.
These days when celebrities can hardly hold down a year or two in marriage without hassles, our dear Queen and Head of the Commonwealth of Nations has been able to chalk up seven decades in holy matrimony.
As the brits say, GOD has really saved the Queen!!!
Talking about wedding anniversaries, the amiable Vice President of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and his wife Oludolapo Osinbajo also celebrated their 28th year anniversary with some endearing words he put out in a tweet on his personal twitter account.
We equally celebrate with the second family.
WizDADDY!
Still in the mood of celebration, news that Wizkid fathered a son with his manager Jada Pollock popped up on social media this past week. Jada Pollock is his US manager and it is believed the baby boy was born two weeks ago in London. Oh! I forgot to mention the baby is his third son, coming after Boluwatife, born 2011 and Ayodeji, born 2016 by Sola Ogudu and US-based Guinean model, Binta Diamond Diallo respectively.
Daddy Yo! Put out a tweet with the hashtag #Godsblessing to announce the arrival of his son.
#BAAD17 (The Sequel)
When hashtags trend, they do so by the number of impressions the hashtag has had on social media (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook). One hashtag that trended last week was #BAAD17 and we also talked about it here.
This week, the hashtag continued from where it stopped but with a little less impressions, maybe because we didn’t have to deal with Ebuka breaking the internet at the white wedding with another piece of clothing that reeked creativity and class.
The white wedding held last week in Capetown, South Africa and as usual the celebrities in attendance put up a fashion show but with less glamour unlike the traditional wedding in Lagos. The groomsmen put on matching white suits with the groom while the bride looked stunning in her flowing white gown.
While #BAAD17 made great impression on social media there was another celebrity wedding in Lagos that couldn’t match or even get close mention or attention like #BAAD17.
WHOSE WEDDING?
Oritsefemi had his traditional and white wedding same day as #BAAD17 the sequel but it barely got mentions. Rather the few mentions it got were either reminders to social media followers that the event was actually holding. They even had a hashtag #ON2017 in place where proceedings can be followed.
Below is one of such tweets…
God will remember you as you read the next story!!!
ZIMBABWE
We reported last week about an inconclusive coup in Zimbabwe. Well, God remembered Zimbabwe during the past week and their dictator president finally decided to step down.
The news of his resignation on Tuesday sparked scenes of jubilation in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare, as thousands of cheering people poured into the streets within minutes of the announcement. Despite all this, Mugabe still showed strength to negotiate immunity from prosecution after his resignation.. Man’s got serious hold of that country.
The former vice president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, and long term ally of Mugabe was sworn in as president on Friday. I don’t know how I feel about this or if congratulations are in order.
