ROYAL WEDDING!

Last week, just as we celebrated anniversary, news of an impending royal wedding popped up on news outlets worldwide.

A statement from the royal family of England released on Monday, 27 of November 2017 announced the engagement of Prince Harry, the queen’s grandson, to Meghan Markle; an American actress popularly known for her role as Rachel Zane on the legal drama series Suits.

The couple started dating in June 2016 after they met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. The engagement ring given by Harry to Meghan consists of three diamonds, two of which were taken from the jewelry collection of Harry’s late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

Prince Harry is also the Prince of Wales and fifth in line to the throne.

Congratulations Prince Harry and Meghan!!!

 MOBO FEAT!

Still in congratulatory mood, Davido and Wizkid were big winners at the 22nd edition of the MOBO (Music Of Black Origin) awards held on Wednesday night at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, United Kingdom. Davido bagged the Best African Act award while Wizkid won the Best International Act.

Wizkid’s win is particularly of note as he beat American rappers JayZ, Drake, CardiB, Kendrick Lamar and other famous international artistes to clinch the highly coveted award. News of this feat was widely received back home in Nigeria with the president and vice president and other top government officials sending out congratulatory tweets praising both artistes.

Thumbs up Daddy Yo! And O.B.O.

EBUKA’S AGBADA KNOCKOFFS

While we’re still yet to get over Ebuka’s legendary agbada and the accompanying praise that was followed, we came across different attempts to replicate the legendary piece, and to be honest, they didn’t turn out well.

However, the attempt to replicate the piece made some look like terrible knockoffs while some tried but then the original piece crafted by Ugo Mozie’s had all the juice plus extra added by Ebuka’s poise and class.

WORLD CUP DRAWS, ARGENTINA AGAIN?

For the fifth time, Nigeria has been drawn in the same group as Argentina (we might as well get married) and social media buzzed with excitement over the draws held last week. The draws were held at the State Kremlin palace in Russia, 2018 World Cup hosts.

Let’s hope the Super Eagles can replicate the class performance (4-2 win) against the Argentines. As it was in the last friendly game between both sides in Russia last month, and the loss jinx as they’ve lost to the Argentines in past four years (1994, 2002, 2010, 2014) group stage games.

#ENDSARS

There’s been an outcry on social media over the past week on the unconstitutional and inhumane activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police.

A hashtag #ENDSARS detailing personal experiences of different people (celebrities inclusive) has trended for days and the trend continues to gather momentum. A petition has been raised to National Assembly to #ENDSARS and you can also lend your voice to the agitations by signing the petition here.
