Tampons or Pads, Which Do You Prefer?

Tampons or Pads, Which Do You Prefer?

Where are my female readers, get in here. Let’s talk about tampons.

I remember when I used to say I’m not a fan of of tampons. In fact, I was among the anti-tampon squad but curiosity wouldn’t let me be great. In addition, going commando on most days made me realize I’d appreciate tampon more.

Read When The Pad (Tampon) Goes Off

The first time I tried using it, I could not sleep. I felt like I had blocked my breathing system. It was as if someone had decided to pull out all my intestines in one night.

Creepy, yeah? Very!

And did I remove it? No. I am just too stubborn even for my own good!?‍♀️ I just wanted to know what it feels like. In the morning, I realize I did not insert it properly, so I tried again…hahahaha, fancy you thinking I would give up. No I don’t. Besides, the joy of sleeping naked is next to none.

I have worn pads for the longest part of my years, so I guess it’s easy for me to weigh the pros of using a tampon.

1. Size

Very small minute something yet very effective. It can easily fit into any size of bag or purse without being detected. You’d only think I’m holding a stick sweet or not even holding anything at all. This however doesn’t mean I’m ashamed of my periods.

2. No Wet Sensation

When I was using pads, I most time get nudged to switch when I start feeling that wet sensation and it can really be so annoying especially when I’m in a public event. But with a tampon, I easily feel the need to change without unnecessarily dripping wet or concerned about menstrual blood sitting in my underwear for too long.

3. Freedom of Movement.

This reminds me of those younger days when I try to save my pocket money and go for these cheaper pads. I always feel like I’m wearing a diaper! Even from my movement you can tell that I’m wearing a bullet proof in between my legs. Yeah it’s that bad. But with tampon, you won’t even feel like you are on your period. Life remain the same and even more better.

4. Swimming in Your Tampons

Where are my pool lovers! Tampons afford you the freedom to take a dive into the pool even when you are on your period because it is worn inside the body unlike pads that are worn outside the body. You do not even want to take such chances and embarrass your generation… that’s a joke.

5. Heavy Flow

Tampons helps hold in a good quantity of blood and it’s so easy to discard and insert another. Well, Always Pad has improved a great deal but I’m still not sure how it can hold such amount of blood without getting the user all stained hence tampons it is for me.

Whether pads or tampons, both have its advantages and disadvantages. But for the purpose of this post, I have decided to form a holy alliance with The Almighty Tampon. Maybe I would form a bond with pads in future posts ?

So what do you think darlings, pad or tampons? What’s your biggest fear of using tampons? Do you think pads should stay winning and tampons should be discouraged? Share your thoughts…

P.S: Using a Tampon will not disvirgin you! There are already holes in the hymen of teen girls to let menstrual blood flow through them; a tampon’s insertion won’t clear the whole thing away like a cobweb.

Quite an interesting read! I’ve never tried tampons before nonetheless I think I’ll forever be a #teamAlways because I’m not one to like the idea of inserting something into my body. . .it’s always scary (that’s why I will never understand the family planning style where people insert something inside the vagina) and number two, I’m pretty comfortable with always blue. I dislike the pink. . . and being someone that menstruates a week with heavy flow, I don’t think I’m up for inserting and removing thrice a day!

    • Akingboye Deborah September 28, 2017 5:39 pm

Ahahahahaha, you can use tampons 4-8 hours per day though ? And we have super flow for tampons too ? Try it once and you’d be a holy disciple ?

    • oshamebinum September 29, 2017 11:10 am

your thoughts are my thoughts exactly! Inserting things into my body is creepy and scary…
Always is just good for me…

Wow, are you serious? ??? Please get to work ??

  • Amaka September 28, 2017 7:18 pm

Another tampon lover like me! I was frankly starting to feel like an odd individual. I absolutely hate the feeling of swimming in my blood whenever I use pads. I hate pads. They make me feel like I’m wearing a diaper, and I hate that yucky squishy sensation. Pads are like”yo b, you know I’m here. That’s right. Bleed on me” and that’s honestly terrible lmaooo so the day I discovered tampons I was so happy! I don’t know about the swimming because no matter what I don’t feel comfortable entering a pool on a period lool, but tampons are your best friend! That is if you’re comfortable with them and figure them out. Inserting the wrong way just leads to pain. Nice post!

    • Akingboye Deborah September 28, 2017 7:33 pm

Oh dear Amaka, your description about pad is just everything!

The day I discovered tampons, it’s been goodbye pad ? And yes, when you don’t insert well, it can be really painful. I guess that was what happened to me the first time

  • Ajibike Oyindamola September 28, 2017 7:31 pm

It’s pad all the way for me o. Reading this has made me curious about tampons again. Never did figure out how tampons are used and yes, I’ve always been of the opinion that tampons can cause the virginity to be lost. Perhaps you can share instructions of use.

    • Akingboye Deborah September 28, 2017 7:35 pm

No not all darling. Really, tampons are life savers compare to the attention that comes with pads.

It has a rope at the end that makes it easy to remove. It’s so minute you’d hardly feel you’ve used anything at all. It’s like thick cotton. So trust me, it can’t cause virginity loss at all? I once thought so too

  • Tonye Barimalaa September 28, 2017 9:28 pm

Tampons all the way! Since I discovered it, the comfort ?. I hate to see blood, I hate the way it smells, I hate the discomfort and irritation pad gives me. With tampons, I forget that m menstruating and I get to chase when I want to pee. The best thing that has happened to my VJJ

    • Akingboye Deborah September 28, 2017 9:36 pm

Ah, that is just the most blissful part of it! When you have to pee!!! ??? Zero stress!

  • Susanah September 28, 2017 10:41 pm

I don’t understand why the WordPress app won’t let me comment directly to your posts. Anyway, reading this made me suck in my belly because I was imagining myself actually using a tampon! Perhaps the novelty of it all makes me shiver and decide to just go with pad instead. I agree pads can be uncomfortable at times, but I am used to it already to complain.
Turht is, I have never even seen a tampon before. Now, I’m curious…

    • Akingboye Deborah September 29, 2017 4:47 am

It’s the domain ish dear. Except you open the full post, I would try and work on that, thanks dear.

I can imagine trying how it can be trying out what you are not used to. But once you try it, it can become addictive ?

  • oluchee September 29, 2017 6:59 am

It’s weird asking someone to show you how to insert a tampon, that’s the problem in my case. I’m curious enough to want to try it out, but how. And lately i just learnt about menstrual cups. Life

    • Akingboye Deborah September 29, 2017 7:05 am

I could have added how to pictures but so worried about graphics image that may get to others ?? You could google search that, lov. There are some pictures on google that shows step by step ways of using it.

Menstrual cups?! I’m just hearing about this ?? Lemme go and learn. Thanks for telling me about it

      • oluchee September 29, 2017 8:15 am

The lady’s life. I’m scared google might scar my mind. Oh well, I’ll be headed there. This must be learnt.

  • Salmah September 29, 2017 9:11 am

Lol.. really interesting.. especially since I have the exact same post planned

  • aminatawa September 29, 2017 10:09 am

From what you and Salmah have said about tampons it has a whole lot of benefits over pads. But the fear that was instilled in me after I heard a girl forgot her tampons in her body and it festered. Then I’m afraid I put it inside and the thing will just disappear and I won’t see it again. But oh well may be one day I’ll try it.

    • Akingboye Deborah September 29, 2017 10:33 am

Please do try. Not sure I heard the story about the girl but I doubt one can ever forget considering the fact that the pull out rope will keep dangling in between your thighs is enough for you to remember it’s time to remove it.

  • Lara Oseni September 29, 2017 11:11 am

What? Tampons is a no no for me. The mere taught of inserting it is creeping me out talk more of leaving it there for hours….please I will stick with pads anytime! ?

    • Akingboye Deborah September 29, 2017 11:13 am

When next I visit you, I’d drug you and insert it ????

      • Lara Oseni September 29, 2017 11:36 am

        Just kill me already ??

  • Ihuoma September 29, 2017 11:30 am

I’m too weirded out to try it. I’ve heard way too many horror stories about tampons and I’m thoroughly satisfied with Always. The new purple brand they released is great.

    • Akingboye Deborah September 29, 2017 11:31 am

Oh there’s a new brand, ? but no I’m not interested. No more VJ irritation…so I’d just stick to my tampon ?

Well.. I have tried a tampon before.. It was weird and a long time ago so I barely remember how it felt, plus I was uncomfortable as I felt it might go so in that I won’t be able to remove it.
You have boosted my courage ?
When next I get a tampon, I shall use it and be unafraid.
    Loved the post.
Ha! But I don’t want it to enter my bum bum o.
