How I Got Rid of My Acne

How I Got Rid of My Acne

Acne, blackheads, spots, pimples…almost every ladies’ issue.

There was a point in my life when I don’t even worry about any of this skin problem. Like I can go bare face and still look peng but it seems we don’t always get to enjoy a smooth skin all the time. Our skin gets to respond to harsh conditions.

This exactly is the story of my life.

For 3 months between September and the end of November, I could not leave my face bare. It was extremely rough. I would try to cover with make up and my girlfriends will scream that I should let my face breathe. I got so tired, worried and angry that I stopped trying to make an effort to look good at all. Even my dress sense began to suffer. I felt I was ugly. Yeah, it did happen.

I decided to do a homemade turmeric, honey and milk. After all, I have seen many other women used this and testified to its amazing wonders. I felt that was the secret to an acne-free face. In my mind it was working, but my face was getting rougher . Another friend used this same mixture, and her face got better.

Something was wrong with me, I need no soothsayer to tell me otherwise.

I started reading up on what I could do and not do or what I was probably doing wrong. Nothing seems to be clicking. So I decided to figure this out on my own. And here’s a detailed list of what I did.

1. I stopped eating fatty foods.

I cut out anything oil from my diet and started drinking water like it was my living tonic. Fruits was not left out. When I get tired of eating fruits, I blend it and drink. I made sure I had a fruit daily.

This scrub became my go to every morning before shower. I leave on my face for like 15 minutes before washing off.

3. I washed my face every morning and night with clean water.

If I’m not sure of how clean the water is, I add Dettol into it to get rid of any germs that won’t allow me glow in peace. Sometimes, if laziness does not set in, I use lukewarm water.

4. I used Clear Zit.

Bought it November 1st. When I first applied, it was as if I rubbed peppered serum on my face (don’t even ask me if there’s such serum, lols). In my mind, I was like, “It’s working faster and by tomorrow, it will disappear”. Jokes. It did not work like that. But, it made all the acne dry up to an extent. When I finished the first tube, I returned to the pharmacy to get another and I couldn’t find it again. I was really pained.

5. The pharmacist on duty advise that I buy Acne Out by Biotrade Pharmaceuticals, which costs about N7,500. I felt attacked that day. I was super broke and was trying to manage my remaining running cash and I’m supposed to remove N7,500 from it for a small cream so I can look good. Who says looking good doesn’t cost money? I struggle to pay for it and I used it judiciously from November 28th to December 19th, precisely.

Did it work? Yes! Very well, infact. My acne is gone. The spots are gradually fading away and I’m on my way to a fresh bare face. I made sure not to finish it when I got satisfied with the result. It may come in handy some other day. *biggrin* Not sure if it was what was making my palm dried, though. I kept having dry palm while I was using it. But it stopped when I stopped using, so you should take note of that if you decide to use one day.

5. Lastly, I always moisturize my face with Jamaican Black Castor Oil.

I wasn’t consistent with using the oil because it’s actually meant for my hair. And it always make my face really oily and somehow. But I try to use when I can and it did work its own wonders too.

What I have come to realize is that there are different routine for everyone. Not everybody have the same skin type, hence, our skincare routine will definitely differ. So always explore and be sure of which works best for you before sticking to it.

Here’s a before and after look of my face. Between when I had an awesome face, when pimples dealt with me and after the various treatment. Currently, I only use the scrub and a black soap.

What’s your skin care routine like? What works for you when you have acne? How do you sustain your fresh face? Kindly share below.

I am so happy for you and your progress with the acne!!
My friend used Clear-Zit and it worked wonders for her, then it just disappeared from the market.
I am even going through a breakout session myself, really hoping it ends soon.
PS. Your pictures are bomb!! Please what did you use for them?

I was wondering why it suddenly disappeared too and I really hope your breakout ends real soon. You could get a good scrub for now and see how it works, sometimes all the skin needs is some exfoliating therapy.

I used my IPhone to take the pictures and edited with Airbrush.

      Thanks for stopping by ?
